I am so fortunate that my children went to Lakewood. They are now teenagers and still recall their time at Lakewood and somehow Tom's name is always mentioned. One of their favorite memories is of him at Camp KATE with them. Today I am a kindergarten teacher thanks to the encouragement of Tom and Christie Anderson. After they both encouraged me to become a sub, they then gave me the opportunity to do a long-term sub position. I wasn't a certified teacher, but they believed in me. Afterward, Tom suggested that I get me teaching degree. Whenever I would see Tom he would always ask me how my classes were and was always helpful and encouraging, but then again that's just Tom...he truly cares about children and their families. With Tom gone from Lakewood, as well as, some amazing and inspiring teachers, Lakewood will truly never be the same. I agree with Janice, Lakewood will never be the same.
